Parental Planning 101

When your younger and have the honor of having your parents pay for your amazing wedding  there can be much friction unless open honest communication is put into place at the very beginning of the planning process. You start out dreaming about the day that you will get married, dreaming about whom your significant other will be and the details of what you will want on your big day. When that day arrives the excitement is overflowing and you are the spotlight of the room, until someone else bursts that bubble. This can happen more often than I would like, thus why I am writing about it.

      If you, the bride and groom have one thought of a wedding theme and your parents another, then you need to sit down and talk. The first thing that you must do is figure out your budget! Do not leave it to your parents to say, "this is the budget have fun with it".  What may and usually will happen is you will plan one thing and they will be expecting and or planning something completely different. Therefore, when you both have an exact amount and are on the same wave length of budget move onto style, decor, theme, vendors, and most of all working as a team to make your dream wedding happen!

    What happens when this does not happen?  A whirlwind of unhappiness everywhere, brides become unhappy as they are not getting what they want and parents become disgruntled with vendors because they are only trying to please the bride and groom and get stuck in the middle trying to find common ground of merging everyone together. If no one is communicating that, "this is what we have all agreed upon and what we all love" - they key word here is all and we then it might take a while for your wedding to take form. So before planning your wedding with your amazing parents who have raised you, loved you, fed and clothed you- remember that while they are paying for this event and need to be respected, this too is your one big day so you as well need the same amount of respect, thus communicate everything even the smallest of details.

The lighting will be low tones that are relaxed liked a coffee club just waiting for a great drink and app to follow. The music will be pumping through the night while your wait staff passes apps to your guests! orange and pink!

Every Year the wedding industry comes out with the exceptional color palates of what will be the great colors for the year! I wait in anticipation for a bright new color or a deep hue that will make something so subtle look like it has suddenly come alive. With just a hint of a color that you would never think about using you have something unimaginable! Well this year- I was actually surprised, a color I often do not use was chosen Tangerine-Tango, a bright orange! But being the planner that I am I looked at it for a few minutes and realized I use this color in my everyday life in more ways then I knew. I eat clementine’s and oranges like mad, I love checkered orange and red table clothes as they remind me of a picnic by a great VT babbling brook I frequent in the summer, and the hue is a warm tone that lifts your spirits. Yes you heard me, this color makes you happy! When choosing wedding colors, it’s not all about matching the right colors but how they make you feel. You don’t want a color that is a total mood killer for your wedding you want one that says, “Celebrate good times come on” you know that song don’t you??? Well enough with the talk here is my take on one color scheme that I am coming to love love love!

Welcome to 2012 everyone! I am sitting here wondering what should I write-do I write a long winded speech about how we should all be thankful for what we have, and start a new. NO, perhaps I should write about the new hot trends of 2012 as I am a wedding planner after all- NO. Wait maybe we should talk about what our year has been like in recap- well all you really have to do is read our blog! so again- NO.

Ok- I have it- I am going to say one thing that actually is about me but can be relayed onto you, which means you can use it for yourselves. "2012 is going to be an amazing year for myself and VT Enchanted Events- I see lots of fun and great goals being succeeded. WHY- because I will it, I say so. Savvy Couples Wedding Solutions !

As a wedding planner I am always looking for something more to help the wonderful couples out there that are engaged and preparing to tell their unbelievable stories to family and friends. So I had this thought in the back of my head for some time, but just could not seem to find the right person to share the vision with.. until now when Nick came along from Blue Sky Weddings and Events. Then everything just went poof- like a big fluffy cloud. With some extra imagination and the help from my new found associate we were able to come up with a way to present a seminar for the savvy couples that are engaged! As Nick mantra is, "Got Savvy?!

We are so honored to be able to be having this event at the Hilton in Burlington Vermont on January 22! and guess what they are letting us give away a free overnight romance package- can you believe it! Honor, Pride, and Service

Honor, Passion, Pride all words that describe the armed forces that protect us, that give us our very freedom and who serve with selflessness.  I honor these men and women and throughout my life I have said many a thank you, and sent out many hugs of gratitude. I for some time now have wondered what can I do that is beyond – that gives back just as they have given so selflessly to us. Then I realized as a wedding planner I have something from the heart that I can share- a wedding. I can help someone who serves our country begin another journey with the one they love. So a few months ago I set out to find amazing VT vendors to participate in a Vermont Bride Military Giveaway.  I am honored to have Ye Olde England Inne not only hosting this event but also providing the meal for the lucky couple and their guests. I am humbled by Vermont Bride Magazine, Polis Photography, Truly Noted, Sweet Crunch Bake Shop, SuperSounds DJ, Uncle George Florists, and Weddings Tents & Events, who are all donating their time and specialties for this amazing giveaway. This is a time where we as vendors can come together and give back to those who have given to us. One lucky couple will get this beautiful wedding in Stowe and I feel so blessed to be a part of an amazing team that will make it happen!
